Oh, and I just ordered 5 x Imperator cylindrica 'Rubra', that grass that goes from green to bright red in summer.. likes moisture, but I'm trying it as a border edge for my roses.. I shall have a row of 10 plants by the time summer comes, as I already have 5 in place..
I've just dug half a dozen of the black grass @Marlorena, that I tried as a border edging. Unfortunately it had other ideas and tried wandering about in nearby bearded irises! I gave them away on Freegle. I much prefer plants that just stay put in one place. We also had sunshine this morning so I dug up a paeony and my Fairy rose. The Fairy was actually two roses, a white one and a pink version planted together - big mistake, they grew far too wide for the space they were in so I separated them out, replanted the white one and put the pink one where the paeony had been. I'm hoping the new situations will be okay. Time will tell.
I've had that black grass @Lizzie27 Ophiopogon? .. also that bronze one Uncinia, which seeded everywhere, both long gone.. I like the Red Baron grass very much, it's just a bit slow to establish.. I called it 'Rubra' for some reason.. Glad you got your 'Fairy's' sorted...
Was it the sunshine plus mild temp combo that brought out the aphids?? or was it the new growths on my roses that attracted them..?? those bloody suckers are already here
I discovered this rose in the garden today (I’ve recently moved and we were doing some clearing) I was hoping I could get your expert advice!! I’m going to leave it as I’m not tackling that side of the garden this year, but I was wondering if I could cut it back so it’s not so over grown? All the growth is way above my head, if you have any thoughts on what it could be that would be great, but I understand ID will be difficult without any flowers/leaves to look at!
Here’s some pictures:
The striped main section is about 3cm in diameter, it does look like there’s places for it to sprout from if I did cut it back.
Thanks for your detailed reply @Marlorena and I hope you enjoyed the eclair! I will stick with original plan and keep it in the shade border, with some informal staking as and when required.

When it does flower, then the good folk on here could probably help to identify it for you.
