    I didn’t touch it last year put trimmed back branches the year before that were in danger of overhanging either neighbour

    I have one that has never been pruned and it still regularly produces suckers.

    Such a fabulous tree. Do any of your neighbours have thickets of suckers? They can pop up quite a long way from the parent tree. 
    "What is hateful to you, do not do to your neighbour".

    Yes one of my neighbours gets them poping up on her lawn  :D

    It is a wonderful tree in its autumnal glory but what a thug.
    Someone planted several along the boundary of our croquet club. There is a grass area between the trees and playing lawns but we have a full time job keeping the suckers under control as they spread relentlessly towards the lawns.
    A nightmare as we have to rely on volunteers to maintain the grounds of the club.
