Not completely rebuilt but seems like a sound idea; if I can get it to continue purring.

Have yet to start it again and when it stalls, check the spark plug.  But seems to me that if dry, then fuel is not getting through and if wet, then too much fuel is getting through.  either way, it is a carb issue.

I have an ultra-sonic cleaner and could dismantle the carb (again) and give it a blast in the ultra-sonic cleaner, but what would be the recommended cleaning liquid?

This could be turned into a blockbuster TV series.  It would be more interesting than a lot of the stuff on currently. :D
  • I know @KT53 … every time @Rekusu posts I look in hoping to see that his mini-tiller is working properly … the suspense is gripping 😊 🤞

    I agree with you both.
I can happily scroll past chillis and leeks, the long running mason bee epic, but for some reason I like to see whether or not this mini-tiller is fixed yet.......

Wishing you every success with it Rekusu.

A mini-series for a mini-tiller.  Great idea.  I will contact Netflix and Disney for the best advance.
  • It could rival the Archers ...

Time for an update to this saga.

What ever the problem/solution, it cannot be too difficult and will not take it to someone and be charged around £50 per hour.

Had it running for a few minutes, then stops and will not start again.  Checked the carb yet again and blown all the ports with carb cleaner, sometimes it starts then stop, other times, nothing.

So bought yet another carb,  which is cheaper than taking the engine to the repair man.

Fitted it yesterday, and again, would run for around one minute, then stop.  Decided to exchange the fuel filter and pipes with the supplied new ones.  Removed but decided not to as the new is not as flexible as the original and as I can blow through the original, there is obviously no blockage.

Reassembled, primed and you could knock me down with a feather, it started on the third pull and idled for around 5 mins before I turned it off and tried again.  Would not start!!!!

Then I had may page one, rookie thought.  Evert time I have been working on it, I have emptied the fuel rather than leave it in the tank.  To do that, It is necessary to virtually invert the machine, which means that the fuel filter will fall to a different position and possibly,  when returned to the normal position, will leave a kink in the fuel pipe?  Having just removed and  replace the fuel pipe, there is a chance that it has a kink that I cannot see.

Shook the machine a bit to hopefully settle the fuel pipe in the correct, kink free position, filled it with petrol, started second pull and ran for a few minutes.  Turned it off, and a minute later, it started perfectly.  Left it running on idle for 10 mins, no problems. Used it today on the veg patch, no problems.

Seems that I may have solved the problem (more by luck than skill) and an educated guess is the starting / not starting / stalling problem is caused by a kink in the fuel line, inside the tank, preventing fuel flowing.

    A page one, rookie mistake!!!!!
