Ebay is a notorious source of fakes branded as the real thing so be careful who you buy from - check their satisfaction ratings.

You can ask for close up pics of the battery you're buying - the model number etc on the back. Pictures are usually revealing.

I rarely buy anything off Ebay, but do buy on Amazon.  Even there, the ones which don't claim to be the manufacturers own often get poor reviews.  Generally along the lines of being fine to start with but soon either failing to charge at all or don't hold charge as long as the real thing.

I have a Ryobi cordless and I'm very happy with it.  It cut a yew hedge back with ease.  I haven't had the battery run out when I'm using it. The battery is only 2.0ah and lasts around 1/2 hour.  I have 2 batteries anyway so I always put the spare on charge before starting work.
Thanks for that. Do you know the model no please

    Ryobi OHT1851R
I inadvertently left the Ryobi off the list of Which recommended cordless trimmers. It came 5th with 82%, just a whisker behind the Stihl models.

I got a very cheap, basic one from Argos - own brand, to replace the one I inherited from my Dad. Had it about 6 years now, and it gets through quite hefty hedging no problem.
Battery charges quite quickly and lasts long enough for me to do my hedge which is about 70/80 feet in total.  :)
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....

I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...

I got an ego cordless one and it's brilliant. It has no problem cutting thicker branches which is something you need to bear in mind as plants mature.

I've got the Stihl one - charge lasts 40 mins. Nice & light to use too.
