  • Wow! He's a handsome chap isn't he!
What a kind face! You are blessed to have him as a father and seeing how much you adore him,  he's blessed too! So glad we could find something fitting for him.  Hope he has a lovely day,  let us know how it goes! Best wishes to you both x
Lovely words, thank you and of course, I’ll let you know xx

Oh I’m sure he would Nanny but not sure my 87 year old gardening/golfing mum would be too pleased 🤣🤣🤣 xxx

He’s an amazing man Fran.  I’m so very proud of him.  He’s chomping at the bit to get out in the garden …. Patiently waiting for it to stop raining!!

@Allyblueeyes. It was a nice change from the usual thread subjects! Do hope your Dad likes whatever you choose to buy for him. I'm sure he will. Some good ideas from other posters. I know how he feels about the rain stopping him from getting out in the garden. I have felt the same over the last few days.  :)

This suggestion might be better suited to next year.

It is not the rose which constitutes the present but the concept with it. Encourage your father to write down in the journal all the wisdom he has accrued over his gardening lifetime. Supplement it with further stories of his life, with little mementoes, photos, a coin from his birth year, and lots of other bits and pieces personal to him and then bury it in a time capsule below the rose. At some unknown future date memories of him will warm others’ hearts.

When we recently put a capsule in a stone wall built in our garden we used a waterproof plastic keg bought from Solent Plastics in Hampshire.

Happy birthday and warm wishes to him.

Thank you Fran.  I’ve gone for a beautiful vegetable trug with ‘happy 90th dad’ stencilled on the side and a veg seed collection.  Thank you @WonkyWomble and @Nanny Beach 💞. I know I could spend more but I know he’ll love this more than any expensive gift.  My poor roses are suffering in this rain but hopefully the forecast looks a bit more promising! 🤞🏻
