Can I avoid a tomato glut?

If I don't feed, will it just affect how many tomatoes I get or will it also affect the flavour?

It'll affect the flavour. As does the soil/compost they grow in and obviously the weather. Best bet may be to grow fewer plants  :)

Just stop them when you think you’ve got enough fruits on them.
Most people leave 5 or 6 trusses,  you could just leave 2 then feed well to make the most of those.

That's what my much-missed old next door neighbour used to do.
Just 2-3 trusses on each plant provided all they wanted and no faffing about with tying them up etc.

    Thanks @raisingirl.
I've already abandoned 3 plants which were snapped up by passers by.
The trouble comes when all seeds germinate. I only sowed 6.
Maybe I'll abandon another and look after 2.
There's also a couple of self seeders that I'm keeping out of interest. Didn't think they'd do much after the cold spring but one has flower buds.
Must make an effort to finish off last year's tomato sauce.

I would cut them but they're container tomatoes. Tumbling Toms. Nice flavour incidentally.  I'm not sure where or what to cut off. They're covered in blossom and little green tomatoes. That's why I'm starting to worry.

I haven't yet managed to have a tomato glut. Or to have enough to cook with or freeze. I guess we eat a lot of tomatoes or I am very bad at growing them.

make roast tomato passata. Easy to make, takes loads of toms, keeps well. I've never yet managed to grow too many

But what do I do with all the  passata? I'm still trying to clear last year's.
Also,I hate to say it , but there were much more interesting tomatoes in the supermarket

I have already frozen two bags full of whole tomatoes ready to make soup in winter. We eat more soup than passata, and it takes up less room.😁
Will make soup in the next few weeks when the Roma start to ripen.
