Magnolia tree issue

    With the leaves shredded like that it looks like a Fatsia. 
    Gardening on the wild, windy west side of Dartmoor.

    I suspected it wasn't a magnolia either, but it's hard to see what the leaf shape is, because there's so much damage.

    Definitely not a  Fatsia though. Trunk isn't right at all, and, although the leaves from near the trunk and then grow a stem, it just doesn't look right. 
    It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....

    I know what you mean @Lyn
    It would need to have been something really bad to get them looking like that though - even slugs struggle with those!

    Thanks guys think I going to try and report it to them and try and nurse it to see if I can get anything any tips for how best to nurse it would be appreciated

    There isn't much you can do. Keep it out of extremes of weather - ie out of hot sun or rough wet/windy conditions. Don't be tempted to feed it. Just make sure it doesn't dry out. 
    I'm assuming it's planted in decent soil, and has adequate drainage in the pot. Waterlogging is as bad as dehydration for shrubs of any kind.  :)

    I don't think it's worth complaining until you get a few unchewed leaves. They'll just blame it on slug damage.
    In London. Keen but lazy.
