    Bumping this for July 2022…
As much as sun and warmth can be enjoyed, for most it will be an uncomfortable inconvenience. Take care folks.

    Edit: scrap the housework.

Forgive my asking , where is there any evidence that "for most it will be an uncomfortable inconvenience."

I suppose I was thinking of the predicted temps higher than 35-40. That’s a bit too sweaty I think. I’d trade one day of 35 plus for a week of 25 though.

I'd probably agree, but an we split the difference a bit and go for 28?
I don't think there will be many empty rooms available in seaside towns.
Many B&B / hotels / pubs / restaurants will be loving the extra revenue after the last couple of years

Meanwhile East Anglian farmers are having sleepless nights over their grain and fodder crops.

Grain is shrivelling in the ear rather than swelling and ripening, and fodder maize and similar crops are half as tall as they should be.

Food prices are going to rise … a lot … coupled with the Ukraine situation some things may even be in short supply.

Isn't that more to do with the lack of rain?

Not simply the lack of rain … but that, coupled with high temperatures and a desiccating wind.

A friend employs a Sudanese carer for her elderly mother and asked her how they cope with 40°+ temperatures in Sudan. She said in Goat Time (noon to about 4 pm) they all have a long rest indoors after a light lunch. The streets are so deserted that wild goats wander in from the fields and scavenge in gardens and around bins.

There are no goats here. The front curtains are drawn and Millie is having one of her 23 hour siestas

If the temperature does go above normal body temp, it will become a serious risk and I think most people not acclimatised will find it uncomfortable. At the beach, the chances are it won't be as hot. But it's too exposed there for a fair skinned person like me - I need trees and shade  B)

I hope the weather just stays like this. It's lovely outside right now, hazy cloud cover taking the edge off the sun and a nice warm breeze. B)
I spoke to one of the local farmers yesterday who said his sheep shearers didn't turn up though so his flock are going to struggle if he can't get someone in asap.
If you can keep your head, while those around you are losing theirs, you may not have grasped the seriousness of the situation.

I'm one of Billy Connoly's pale blue Scottish people.  Takes us 3 weeks of sun to be a white as normal folk. Factor 30-50 and stay in the shade 😁
