Morning all. Packing up to go home this morning - should be less than 2 hrs drive so not too bad. It's been a grand weekend even if the weather didn't play ball. Typically the sun is now shining and it's just pleasantly warm....
Rosie and LB - hope both your puss cats are ok. Mine used to get very lethargic and lose their appetite in hot weather. Smaller meals on demand seemed the best option but they can get used to being waited on like that very quickly!
Heaven is ... sitting in the garden with a G&T and a cat while watching the sun go down
Do all commentators sign a pre-Games agreement to put a curse on everything? Screaming, "YESSSSS! yes, yes, yes - that's it! That is untouchable! That's Olympic gold!" when your main rivals have yet to go, and can still overtake you was a great attempt at scuppering it He changed his tune when said rivals pulled out a gem Fortunately, not quite enough but it could easily have been a real Michael fish moment
The skateboarding commentators are definitely in gold medal position when it comes to the Tempting Fate event, though. Almost without fail, a comment about how easy one of the teenagers made it look, how they were on a roll, looking strong, have the gold in their grasp, preceded a child falling off their toy and grazing their knee Genius!
By the way, a long time ago when I was a child, skateboarding and BMXs were what kids played out on NOT Olympic sports. We used to play quite a bit of pitch & putt and climb trees as well. Could they be in the schedule for 2024? Or maybe weeding and pruning? Also, there is no need for any sport to gatecrash if the Olympics is not the pinnacle. The likes of tennis, football and golf should be nowhere near IMO. They've got the majors, World Cup, grand slams, etc.
Hello all Have a good journey home @Topbird ... I know it's only 2 hours on the map, but it's uphill all the way don't forget
I've done loads of watering 'cos we've not had a drop of rain, despite there being deluges elsewhere in the county. I've also picked courgettes and tomatoes and the first few runner beans ... supper will be a cheesy courgette quiche ... OH popped into W'rose on his way back from the PO and picked up a pot of cream. The courgettes and onions have been cooked and are cooling, the cheese has been grated and the pastry is resting while I have a coffee and noodle on here ... just got to assemble it all and pop it in the oven, then I can settle down and watch the 'lympics ........... it's all being recorded

Morning SGL, Ante, Ruby, Chive, Biglad, Dove and Hazel. What a morning! After half an hour of attempts I finally got through to the Vet's and booked an appontment for Lily at 11:00. I gathered the cat basket and towel that I use to capture her ready for action. At 09:36 I get a call from the Vet - they've had a cancellation and could I get there for 10:00. I sprang into action, got Lily into the basket with the minimum amount of stress on both our behalfs and headed off. The procedure introduced because of covid was to ring from their car park on arrival and the Vet/Veterinary nurse comes out to fetch Lily and take her off into the surgery - I hate this bit as I see my little girl being taken away. After about 15 minutes or so, Lily is returned to me having had the anti inflammatories, antibiotics and requested flea treatment even though I haven't seen any fleas either on her or in the house for well over a year. Thought I might as well be prepared. I have treated the house.
Ante, have a go at growing the seeds. You could always let them grow to full size and add them to your woodland.
Hazel, brilliant news about your son and the visit from 23. I bet you can't wait to get those new toys out. Brace yourself for the excitement!
T'Bird, safe journey home.
Biglad, I did have a 'moment' myself when the commentator was raving on about Tom and Matty's dive. Talk about kiss of death!

LB I’m sorry to hear Lily is under the weather. I hope she’s feeling better very soon, bless her. Ante I hope your bonsai tree grows well. You can find instructions online if the information is scant (brief). Chive I went to bed at 4am and slept for a few hours. Hazel I’m glad your son is feeling much better. 23 will be excited when the toys come out.
LB you’ll be glad to see Lily back after being whisked away at the vets. She’ll be glad to be back home with you and her comforts away from the clinic.
Afternoon folks. A lovely day here but no sign of rain. We could do with a drop but not the deluges that you are getting SGL, hope your garden recovers. Debs, hope your brother improves soon. Ante, hope the British invaders behave themselves. I've been pottering in the garden this morning, nothing to strenuous after yesterday but I've tidied the front borders. Going back out in a minute to take the remnants of the peas down. Now they have gone over I'll need to consider what to plant in the large half barrel, any ideas?
Just watched the men' diving, but we knew the result.
Collected my glasses then looked round town and bought some books for Son 2's children. He wants them to be fluent in English thought their first language is French. He's asked for books about science and history etc as well as fiction.
Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.
Afties all. RosieBB, I was delighted to get Lily back at the Vet's. Hazel, the Vet says its the usual flare up of the virus she carries. It happens roughly twice a year but I wanted to nip it in the bud before it got too bad. As soon as she got home she walked into the kitchen and buried her face in her food so I think she was feeling pretty OK.
Yvie, are you thinking edible or ornamental for your half barrel? You could grow chard if it was an edible you were thinking of.

This should probably be in CC, shouldn't it?
