    The grass will never grow there. You'll have to put something else down.
    In London. Keen but lazy.

    I agree. An area of consistent wear will just stay that way - grass won't really get a chance to survive. 
    A simple area of a couple of square metres of paving or gravel would solve that. 

    Tidying up all the edges round the planting areas would also help make the grass look better, even if there isn't a proper solid edging of any kind round them. 
    It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....
