I like how everyone here is so helpful and patient.. I’ve learned a few things too reading your comments. All the best Ash, take your time, knowledge needs time to consolidate, have fun and enjoy the process. If you’ve started work at the garden centre already why don’t you go to the rose section and have a look at the plants, look up their names and do a quick search online to find out what type of Rose it is, and then apply what you’ve already learned to that rose. Try not to turn it into a sort of revision for an exam.. it takes the fun out of it. And most of all, enjoy working with the plants, especially roses, undeniably the best plant in the world! 😁
Hi everyone it's Ash. How are you doing? I was in my step fathers garden yesterday enjoying the sun, when we were both talking about plants. He has a nice garden, a lawn splint into two halves with greenhouses, borders filled with Roses, Hidcote's and alsorts. It was nice talking about plants, he asked me what do you know about Roses, i told him that i'd made questions and answers so i told him the varieties i'd remembered and he was impressed.
Those questions and answers that you helped me with are great but what do i do now, do i learn what i've made already then add more varieties to them or what do you think please? Here is the list i made.

That’s fantastic Ash, congratulations! Keep practising the ones you have learnt, but if you feel ready to add new questions, there are three more types of roses you will see for sale in garden centres: Shrub Roses, Climbing Roses and Rambling Roses. I think it’s worth learning these too.
I have tried to keep the questions and answers below simple, but it’s getting harder to do because these roses are a little more complicated than the three you have already learned, so we need to keep using words like usually or often.
——
What are three other types of roses? Shrub Roses, Climbing Roses and Rambling Roses
——
What are Shrub roses? Shrubby roses with lots of stems.
What type of flowers do they have? Single flowers, clusters or both on the same rose.

What kind of support is suitable for a Climbing rose? A wall, an obelisk or a rose arch.
How do you get the most flowers? By bending or winding the long stems on the support.
——
What is a Rambling rose? A vigorous type of climbing rose with lots of smaller flowers.
Where are they grown? Big ones can grow up trees and ramble along hedges. Smaller ones can be grown on supports like climbing roses.

something on the history of roses... if you are interested.. his channel has many more interesting vids if you like.. the more you understand, more confident you get.. once you understand the history/ category of roses, you try to identify roses by spending time with them in the garden.. you would learn more about roses by spending time with them..
Can you help me with this please? I emailed my line manager and showed her the rose list you helped me to do. Here is her response.
Super - lets go one step further !
What are 3 popular types of roses? Floribunda, Hybrid Tea, Patio. Tell me 2 more - I gave you three new types already so have a look at those
What are the many flowers on each stem of a Floribunda called? A cluster Yes
How often do Floribunda’s repeat flower? Frequently. Have a look at how dead heading promotes new buds -
Why should you remove the dead flowers of REPEAT flowering roses? To encourage it to produce more flowers.
Why does this help produce more flowers? Because of you don’t do it, the rose thinks it has finished flowering for the season and won’t produce any more.
What is removing the dead flowers called? Dead heading.
What are Floribunda’s more resistant to than Hybrid Tea’s? Disease Yes
What is a Hybrid Tea rose? An upright rose bush with long stems, usually with a single flower on the end. Why is is called a hybrid tea ? Because it is a cross between old Tea Roses from China and other types of roses
How resistant to disease are Hybrid Tea Roses compared to Floribunda? less disease resistant. Same question as before !
What are Patio roses? Small, compact and easy to care for . Yup
What is another name for Patio roses? Miniature roses . Not quite, minature roses are even smaller
… The two terms are often used interchangeably, because both can grow to around 60cm high. Miniature roses usually have smaller flowers and leaves. So your manager is only half right! Maybe it is better to replace that question with a new one:
What is the difference between Patio and Miniature roses? Miniature roses are usually smaller than Patio roses, often with smaller flowers and leaves.
Where are Patio roses suitable for growing? In pots on the patio, or on a balcony . And in the garden border
… Patio roses were specifically developed for pots, but yes your manager is right, sometimes people put them in the garden border too, usually at the front. So you can change the answer to
In pots on the patio, on a balcony or at the front of a garden border
Well done so far, now you need to look a little deeper.
Mountainous Northern Catalunya, Spain. Hot summers, cold winters.
