Known nowadays as Centranthus ruber 😊

Seeds like thistledown take root in cracks and crevices, especially in the stone walls banks cliffs and house roofs of Devon and Cornwall.

Thanks guys.  Particularly pretty isn’t it.  Well, the flowers at least. Am I right in thinking valerian has the same effect as cat mint on our feline friends?

No idea @1634 Racine. It grows randomly around here. There's a clump in a garden near me which has escaped through the fence and is now in a rough bit of soil beside the pavement. Hardy stuff  :)
