Should I deadhead Cirsium rivulare 'Atropurpureum'. Does it grow more flowers like dhalias?

Mine are doing well in the border, have bulked up nicely over the last few years, but have never self-seeded.
Same here. Lots of 'thistledown' but never a seedling.

I deadhead, taking stems out down to the ground, and it reflowers really well.

I haven't had self-seeding in the couple of years I've had it, though it's bulked out brilliantly. I read (somewhere?!) that atropurpureum was much politer than the standard species which is a brighter bluey purple and seeds about vigorously.

As per earlier post I was recommended to try root cuttings for propagation 😜
