Should I deadhead Cirsium rivulare 'Atropurpureum'. Does it grow more flowers like dhalias?

Should I deadhead Cirsium rivulare 'Atropurpureum'. Does it grow more flowers like dhalias? Or does it flower just the once ?

    If you don't deadhead, it'll seed everywhere.  :)
    They just flower once really, but have multiple flowering stems.
    It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....

    Was talking to someone on another site, he posted a link saying it was sterile and his had never self seeded, someone else then said the same.
    He’s going to send me a head later to try so we’ll see.

    I took them out in a previous garden  because they became a real nuisance  :)
    It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....

    They never self-seeded here and don't really do very well. The clue's in the name - rivulare - they like it damp, like it is in Fairygirl-land  :. Too dry for them here.
    Doncaster, South Yorkshire. Soil type: sandy, well-drained

    I wanted to get more of these and have failed miserably, all info I found was they are sterile. Spoke to a nurseryman who grows all there's from root cuttings, that is this winters project. Ours have bulked up into really big plants and look great, I deadhead once the 1st flush of flowers have gone right over (I cut the stem down as low as possible) I usually get a 2nd much slower flush of flowers.

    Mine are doing well in the border, have bulked up nicely over the last few years, but have never self-seeded.
