OK. Enough is enough! It perked up and  now it's trying to die again. It's going in the ground in a prime east facing spot. No roses grown there before. Last chance saloon. If it hasn't pulled itself together by midsummer next year, it's compost😡

They like to send down deep roots and don't do well in pots after a while.  My advise is also to find a spot that gets 4+ hours of sun (the longer the better) and carefully lower it into the ground without tearing the tiny vein like roots.  It is not doing so bad as there is a new green shoot.

It wasn't  doing well in partial shade so I  moved it to fullish  sun. facing east.
The container seems big enough. It gets rose fertiliser and plenty of water and I  topped it with a little of the mislabelled horse  manure I  got earlier in the year .
    It's  in a bad way.
    Can anyone offer any advice?
PS the big leaves look healthier  in the photo than reality
I think I can see a few black spots on some of the leaves. If so, your rose has a disease called black spot. This will kill the rose if left untreated. You need to spray regularly with an anti black spot treatment. Pick off any affected leaves and also pick up any fallen leaves, burn them or bin them. Never put them on the compost heap if you have one.

Most of my roses have a bit of black spot. The damage is usually cosmetic rather than fatal. Thanks for your advice, Joyce😊

Thanks @fire. I was going to check the growth habit. Now I know where it's going😊
