Deep secret. Deeply unhappy
It wasn't doing well in partial shade so I moved it to fullish sun. facing east.
The container seems big enough. It gets rose fertiliser and plenty of water and I topped it with a little

of the mislabelled horse manure I got earlier in the year .
It's in a bad way.
Can anyone offer any advice?
PS the big leaves look healthier in the photo than reality

plant it nice and deep, water it well and stand well back.
happy in some containers
... I don’t think that one is ... no idea why but as you say, it looks unhappy.
Gardening in Central Norfolk on improved gritty moraine over chalk ... free-draining.
The problem is the best rose spots are already taken so here are the options:
Squeeze in in front of rose climbers in optimum spots
Hot bed really hot all day in summer
West facing sun in afternoon
Dappled shade but blasting hot midday in summer
Shade most of the day but a little sun midsummer
@Marlorena. Sorry to bother you but can you advise?
..bit of a state... you didn't prune it hard enough in Spring.. roses like these should be pruned hard right down to 4 inches, all canes... the one on the right is going unproductive, turning yellowy/green.. I see just one bud..
I would prune that hard now, as it's not going to do anything until you do, it's sort of telling you in a way..
I have put 4 red lines here, where I would cut.. it will seem drastic and it's up to you if you want to do this, you don't have to, but the rose needs rejuvenating and that's achieved by hard pruning.. don't be scared.. lol..
..the short bottom red line is for that leafless shoot on the right.. I think there may be another on the left that is doing nothing, a short dead looking piece, if so take that off too..
..after which, you liquid feed.. I use Miracle Gro or Tomorite at recommended dosages.. this is very important, it will kick start your rose.. the pot looks rather dry to me..
best of luck..
The Margaret Merrill stuck in the patio that you helped me with earlier in the year is full of buds about to burst. Thank you for that too.
PS
Job done will feed it tomorrow
