Rspca won't do much about a barking dog even if it's left on its on outside.my nephew had this and they said it wasn't ill treated and did nothing.and yes.. don't go to the council .they will find out it's you then it's war.
Yes, and I sympathize, where we used to live, there was a young couple the other half of bout semi,in their 20s he had a huge dog 10 stone, but like a big old red teddy bear, BUT he used to jump the silly little fence and come and poo in our garden, the owner, the guy would be be away working, one day I said you come band pick it up,she said "it's not my dog" and waltzed off.THEN she got a German shepherd 3 who had only been chained up outside a scrap yard, result, barking started at 5 am when she went to muck out her horses.she was 6 ft tall,me 5 we eventually went to the council,I wasn't getting any sleep, council woman said why didn't I offer to walk the dogs!! My young neighbour couldn't manage even one,I had 2 dogs,3 of my 4 kids at home, worked full time nights. Then she made our life hell. They weren't walked,RSPCA said dogs didn't need walking
Share a Pint with the neighbor. Offer to Dog-sit when they leave the dog outside, hinting that you'll try and train it to bark less. LOL. More often than not, it's the owners that need training.
My brother's colleague , who worked nights, got so fed up with his neighbours' dog barking all day whilst they were at work, he got it into his garden and locked it in his shed. He used to do it every day when they went to work. When they complained about that, he dug a hole, killed the dog and buried it in his garden. He went to jail, but it shows just how devastating it can be . Dog owners just don't give a toss.
Hosta, don't label us all,I've had dogs since I was a kid, not left to bark,my 2 now, used to have 3.i agree it's the owners, usually. Not quite as extreme, but I actually walked out at one point. My post would have been ridiculous in length as well as these 2 neighbours dogs starting barking at 5 am they often were going at gone mid night when they came back from club etc got to the stage I couldn't sleep in those fee hours wound up waiting for the next bark. Council installed sound equipment in our room, you had to get out of bed switch it on.i rang a taxi told old man I was booking into s hotel,to get a break
My sister used to have nightmare neighbours who had a very large dog that would only run to the fence and bark madly whenever she dared go into her garden. Very scary as the fence was only 5 ft maybe. We didn’t go into her garden for at least a year. Luckily they and their dog moved away eventually and she has peace and safety again.
My next door have a dog, luckily it’s not a barker. I hear him making whimpering sounds at times but otherwise very quiet even when their kids are playing and calling to it. No problem at all.
Sorry I forgot you were asking for advice. Always a case of bad dog bad neighbours I’m afraid. My sisters neighbours weren’t very friendly whereas mine are. Can’t remember if she did anything official but she tried to block the dogs view of her with tall growing plants as it jumped at the fence every time she went out.
I would baulk at the suggestion of walking someone else’s nuisance dog! Council seems useless.
They're the bane of my life. Loads of these headache inducing terriers round here. The noise goes right through you. We have a neighbour who got one of those endlessly yapping terriers. It was always barking, and I once spent a whole day out in the garden, and it barked for most of that time. I assumed they were out, and I could only hear it because their windows were open, but they weren't. Utterly inconsiderate and irresponsible. How they could listen to that all day and not see how hellish it was is beyond me. I decided against reporting it, and instead resorted to shouting 'shut that ******* dog up' on frequent occasions. They obviously realised - eventually, and did something about it.
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....
I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
Used to have two dogs. Really well behaved with us, and had no idea that they barked all the time on the rare occasions we went out and left them. Probably separation anxiety, we must have spoiled them. Had no idea of the problem until we got a letter from the council. I was mortified. I went and apologised to our NDN, who wasn’t the one who made the complaint, but also hadn’t told me about the barking. After that, we had the dogs ‘babysat’ when we were out. Depends on how you get on with the neighbour, and what sort of people they are. If they are concerned citizens like me, have a word with them. If they’re not, just contact the council. They have to observe anonymity, and if challenged by your neighbour, just deny it was you! You could add that you’re not surprised there have been complaints, as lots of people have been talking about it!
Ilikegardening, the suggestion I walked the dogs was ridiculous in view of their size my size, said neighbour worked part time as a cleaner no kids,I did full time nights had 3 of my 4 kids at home, plus I looked after .y grandson and a neighbours 4. The council didn't tell her it was me who complained, she figured that out. The dogs barked at everything that went past. We asked them if they could put the dogs I. the lounge at the back, she put them in the kitchen in the front, the barked so loudly our windows rattled. Then she got really nasty
