I agree with you @Fire. I stopped watching it a very long time ago, because I felt it had lost it's way. It's also not very relevant for me up here a lot of the time.
I don't think people understand there's an off button on a TV  ;)

I feel sorry for new gardeners though, especially as there's been a lot of them in the last year or so. Giving basic guidance on pruning, seed sowing/taking cuttings, and most importantly - showing follow up care, and possible problems arising from those two procedures, should be a basic, on what is meant to be the flagship gardening programme. It seems that isn't really happening from what I read. A real shame.
How to put plants together in a bed or border, info about the aspect/soil, and also the variations in climate in the UK and what effect that can have, is something that I felt was lacking too. We often see people recommend plants on this forum that just aren't hardy everywhere, and that can lead to a lot of disappointment for new gardeners, not to mention the expense. For experienced growers, you don't need to watch that, in the same way that I don't have to watch sections about jungle/tropical plants, or intensive veg growing, which are of no interest to me.
You only need to read the queries in spring about acers/rhodos/hydrangeas/fruit trees etc that are frost damaged or dehydrated to see that people just need a few tips and pointers. Lawncare is another. Pests and diseases, and how to recognise and tackle those too.
A programme can't be all things to all people, but basic info is a must IMO. Doesn't have to be for more than a few minutes each time   :)
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....

I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
