This has more than a whiff of phishing rather than any academic research.

    I agree @Slum :)
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....

I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...

Gardeners world now just seems to repeat itself every year, which to be honest its what gardening is all about, but it would be interesting if some time could be given on new tools and machinery which is coming onto the markets.

The magazine does stuff like that ... it's a bit difficult for BBC programmes to do that sort of thing as it can be a bit close to advertising, which they're not allowed to do.

BBC Radio and TV are getting very close to the edge with regard to advertising - their constant promotion of BBC Online and BBC Sounds  literally 24 hours a day is becoming more evident.
Fair enough to promote your own products but it's a thin line - they may not advertise Heinz Beans but the air time taken up with their own advertising is increasing and can be just as annoying.

one could argue that every time they play a song on radio, it's an advert ?

Mentioning BBC Sounds or BBC online is no different to saying what's on the BBC tv  channels ... both free services and part of the BBC ... not commercial businesses.

Sorry - can't see that at all. Unless they name a specific product in their song and encourage purchase/use.

You surely don't need to be a commercial business to advertise ?
My fault perhaps and I should have used the word Promotion as opposed to Advertising.
I'd also say that "mentioning a product" is somewhat different to "constant promotion" and this is what I have found the BBC is doing - particularly on Radio 4, Radio 4 Extra and 5 Live .  BBC World Service  seems immune at present so something to be grateful for ;)
The BBC as a whole enterprise is not a free service - we pay a Licence fee - always thought it worth the money but am beginning to wonder these days.  I do still pay the fee but I understand many people who access the Beeb have stopped paying over the last few years.  Perhaps something to do with the change in the law - difference between criminal and civil law -something like that I think.
I'm certainly not against the BBC - I've used and enjoyed it for many years but that doesn't mean to say that I have no reason to question them.

I like to consider myself "wonderful",  even if nobody else does 😊.

    Hi Hostafan! and B3

Your observations on Gardeners World being dog focused is a key aspect of this study. If you would be willing to share your views in more detail in a one to one Teams or Zoom meeting and would like for your observations to be included in the study, please let me know and I can forward you the full study details.

I am also keen to hear from anyone who enjoys seeing dogs as part of the show and perhaps watches GW specifically for Monty's four legged friend?

It’s not neutral phrasing when you’re leading the interviewee to discuss the dogs as a key focus and especially those who enjoy watching the dogs specifically. Why not say that instead of beating around the bush so to speak about noticing non-plant matter?
