What are these? Could these be snail or slug eggs?

    Those hostas have quite tough leaves and are more resistant to slugs and snails.

    Snail eggs, but they are much smaller than these!

    Update - I left the ‘eggs’ in the sun after photographing them. Next one I crushed was filled with dry powder, so obviously was a slow release fertiliser. What a relief. 
    Mind you I did find a small slug on the underneath of one of the pots, when I did what will now be my nightly slug patrol!

    @Ergates - the little slug had obviously read this thread and was simply trying to confuse you  ;)
