Sticky Willy and cleavers are one and the same. It's shallow rooted and easy to pull up. I could understand it if the housing association was concerned about the garden being overgrown with weeds. Maybe they're mixing up weeds with weed :p .
Doncaster, South Yorkshire. Soil type: sandy, well-drained

As already said - that's willowherb in the pic, not Cannabis. Best removed or it'll be everywhere if it sets seed.

I've always called cleavers sticky willy. I didn't know it by any other name till I was quite old! Easy to pull out though.
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....

I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...

I’d never heard Sticky Willy until I joined this forum. We always called it Goosegrass.

Gardening in Central Norfolk on improved gritty moraine over chalk ... free-draining.

Definitely rosebay willowherb.  Not that easy to remove because it has thick, spreading roots which will regrow if broken.
Since 2019 I've lived in east Clare, in the west of Ireland.
  • Thanks you all, It really does look like rosebay willowherb, so thanks again! And this patch grows back like mad as it was only last cut back on the 29/ March, and when the investigation is over it will be time to dig them roots out.

I call it "bollock weed" on account of the seeds.

    I doubt Linnaeus would approve.

I always called it "goosegrass" too. Also heard "sticky willy" for the first time on this forum. I agree with willowherb, not cannabis.
Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.
