It’s dead isn’t it?...

I posted a few months ago about this bamboo, we bought it in the hope it would do something (am I being impatient?) it looks even worse than when we bought it.
It was potted with manure, plenty of space... should I just put this down as my lack of experience and get rid? It’s a green cane bamboo

I can see green near the bottom, so personally l would cut the dead bits down to there and cross my fingers  :)

An old mountain rescue aphorism "you're not dead until you're warm and dead". Wait for warmer weather and see what springs up.

The old canes might produce new leaves when growth starts, and you should get new canes.
I'd keep watering it but NOT cut it back

Oh ok that’s helpful thank you as my husband and I were discussing whether to cut back the canes that look dead. Will keep at it thank you 😊

Old canes don't get any taller after the first year, but they do put out new foliage.
Mine haven't started any new growth yet this year , so we both need to be patient eh? ;)

Patience isn’t my strong point 😂 but with being new to gardening I need to learn. In my black bamboo, I’ve got 6 new shoots and I can’t tell you how excited I was when I saw!
