I use leafsnap doesn't always get it right but it does give you a list of other potential matches. No idea how it compares to other apps.

This is a very tech-wary forum and cohort.

Thank you Elfer and Fire.  I prefer a book myself but when visiting other gardens where plants are not named, I thought an app on my phone would be helpful.
    Thank you for your interest.

An accurate plant ID app would be a godsend. I haven't found one. Google reverse imaging is hopeless.

Now you are depressing me!  I have bought a plant whose label says stocks. I am assuming night scented stocks.
I have also bought one labelled phlox; looking that up is a minefield as there are so many!

Wrong. I find that stocks, or matthiola, can be annual, biennial, perennial or evergreen. So this one will go in a pot until I can recognise which one it is.  Ditto the phlox.
I bought several plants to support our local 'In Bloom' group.

They don't normally come in pots. Check Brompton stocks @anniedt
    In London. Keen but lazy.

The forum members are excellent but sometimes the app is handy too. I use inaturalist  which also has people checking the ids but it often gives a pretty good idea of you take a decent photo. There are others of course.

is it this one? How does it work? It looks like it's mostly American content and community... Details would be useful. Thanks
