Thanks @LG_ and @Liriodendron for the info. I have several planted around. But the one in the pic is in totally wrong place so will try moving that alone. Mine were from the RHS seed scheme from 2019 as well let’s hope they do as well as yours. Looks like @LG_ that border is going to steal the show.
Yes, your border does look lovely, @LG_. Mad alliums are great.
I'm sure last time I grew Hesperis (in a different garden) it was only 3ft tall, and much less beefy, so I didn't stake my plants this year, but wish I had...
- it's a very "random" border, with everything flopping into everything else, and wallflowers plonked in where there was a space. (And primulas needing splitting and re-positioning...) The plans I'd made for this area had included shrubs susceptible to honey fungus, which have had to be relocated.
These Hesperis were transplanted, I remember, but I did it when they were relatively small last year.
Since 2019 I've lived in east Clare, in the west of Ireland.
Many thanks all for your insight. For future reference, the largish Hesperis transplanted okay. It does sulk and droop every now and then but a can of water perks this right up.
