@dappledshade I had a couple of big Dahlias in pots doing nothing for weeks so I brought them indoors as people on here were saying they need more heat to get going. One is now growing - the other one isn't admittedly, I think it must be a goner. My little ones grown from seed are outside facing the elements - fortunately I have quite a few cloches that I put over them to protect from the wind!
I didn’t cloche mine...it’s been in the ground for weeks now and still nothing, in spite of rain and sunshine. The tubers looked good though. Ill give it until June...
I felt obliged to plant out 3 of Dahlias last night, they'd been in my greenhouse on the ground (no space anywhere else! ) but were starting to show various signs of problems, some of the leaves were darkening/curling. On one, a couple of the leaves were yellowing at the edge, also some slug damage. Now in the process of laying down every manner of slug prevention to the ground in which they've been planted that is possible. I figured they were also becoming malnourished as they'd been in their same pots/compost since I potted them up in March. Figured I've nothing to lose by just putting them in the ground and hoping for the best
