@ciaranmcgrenera could it be slug or snail damage? I left mine out and some of the branches have been eaten. My sunflower was snapped in half with the guilty snail still attached.
One of the branches is completely gone. The other is hanging off, but I thought to take cuttings of Dahlia you needed a bit of tuber? I’m not too concerned about that plant- it’ll survive. I’m more concerned about the plant that’s just flopped to the side. It was taking a beating from the wind and rain- I hope it’s not terminal.
Mine have now been out in their pots day and night.. I am going to plant them in the ground next week during my annual leave. The weather forecast in NW Liverpool shows no signs of frost for the next two weeks.. which will comfortably take us into June where it should be well past the ‘last frost’ then.
I knew it was to be wet today @Hostafan1 but we’re getting those gales too and I missed that. Anyway. Hopefully the nice few days of good old Irish sun/ rain/ drab grey/ repeat normality will bring them back round. I was planning on planting them in their final positions this Sunday and I hope to stick to that.
This poor fella took a beating in the storm and has lost some low down branches. You can see one right in the front here where the new side shoot is growing- it’s exactly the same on the other side.
Just wondering, I planted out my dahlia First Love, 4 weeks ago, after overwintering it in a large pot, covered in soil, in the greenhouse (normally as I’m in london, I leave them in the ground, but due to works I had to lift this one). The tubers seemed pretty healthy when I examined it before planting and I got out any soggy bits. However, there is no sign of life from it yet. It’s in full sun and as we all know, has had constant watering since the start of May 😩
@Dappled shade. I'm pretty close to you and some of my outside ones have barely started rising. They have stalled. Hopefully June will bring sun and higher temps.
