I have a long finger shaped garden, a stream runs all the way down RHS whole length. Here looking down the length of it. And like a finger its in 3 segments..
1st segment (so just on from the knuckle then): my lawn and main bed (& my big success.. a willow!).
The middle finger segment: was bad knotweed patch, so only in a 'cleared' state this midrift area, nettles, hogweeds, brambles badly pervade still.
The end 'fingernail' segment: the ground falls steeply down to stream RHS, cabin spans the slope, just clearing Ive done to this section too.
Im afraid there seems to be a cylinder involved, I have no idea why. Thx zoot

Lovely garden, and welcome. Not sure if that's worth much from a non-long-established poster. They carry the most weight around here.
I remember going up Snowdon on Llanberis path many years ago and there was a tearoom not so far up, which had a sign saying that walkers were welcome to stop for teas etc, but when we went in it was like it was closed, and the Welsh guy came out and the first thing he said was "are you English?" Thankfully we were not English (it was clear he didn't like them!) and so he allowed us to stop for a drink before continuing up the mountain. Interesting that 300 years later there is still this animosity between our apparently "united" nations of the UK. I suppose if you all had it your way, the whole island would be England. I am so sad at the troubles in NI right now because of England voting brexit. If Scotland was anything like NI we'd be bombing stuff up because of the independence issues. Dread to think. Why does anyone need to bomb things up to make a point?
As a young person, I used to think that Welsh people and North East people would be really friendly but as I've gotten older I don't think they're friendly at all. Now as an older person, I would certainly go as a tourist to those areas but as a "foreigner" I wouldn't go live there! Good luck.
Just to add my welcome, too @zooter. Great, really helpful and inspirational forum... no question too simple to ask the more experienced gardeners here, and lots of support for new ideas. I have learnt so much from the last couple of years I've been a member. Your garden looks a wonderful project... enjoy it, and ask any questions you want, there will be sure to be someone who can help!
