Mini fur trees

I bought a mini fur tree from supermarket over a year ago and I wanted to get it to grow much bigger so I put it in a much larger pot. Did I do the right thing? And what else can I do to help it grow?

    Any chance of a photo? There are a lot of dwarf conifers and similar evergreens so without knowing what it is we won't be much help. You might even have a tiny pinus :#

    A green one. A close photo in daylight might narrow it down a bit. Dwarf conifers are very slow growing though. Normally the height and spread expectations are given for a ten year growth period.
    If you can keep your head, while those around you are losing theirs, you may not have grasped the seriousness of the situation.

    How does putting it in a much larger pot make it grow bigger? Rather like wearing much bigger shoes your feet will grow bigger.
    Too big a pot and the roots will sit in wet compost and rot.
    Repot it when the roots are filling the existing then go about and inch or so all bigger, I.e. 5inch to 7inch or a 9 inch.
    Check daily by pushing a finger into the soil and water if it feels dry.
    Often keeping a tree in a pot will keep it smaller than one planted in open ground.

    I fancy your conifer is one of the dwarf varieties though I will take that back if it grows to 6 metres. If you want a conifer to reach a certain size, i.e. 2 metres, then you will have to buy a named variety as that way you will be able to find out it's eventual height and spread and whether or not it is suitable for growing in a container. Have a look at this https://www.crocus.co.uk/plants/_/conifers/plcid.311/ and you will find that the eventual size is mentioned for each plant. Garden centres should also have all this information but supermarkets never do.
