It's what they call 'veldsla' here (Belgium) and they sell it in the supermarkets. I didn't recognise it because I've never seen it with flowers.   :D

Weird plant next to classic forget me not….. by the way hubby thinks I’m mad wandering in and out taking bits off plants for photos 🤪
On pic #1 the flowers look blueish, on pic #2 they look white!
Do you have a pic of the whole plant in situ? That would help.
  • Whatever it is I think thats what Ive been pulling out of my garden. I saw a plant in a new border last year and wondered if I'd forgotten what I'd put in. This Spring I saw lots of blue flowers in the bed which is at the bottom of the garden. I natually thought my forget me nots had spread (I always let them seed).
This last weekend, when I went to weed the bed, I discovered that superficially they're like f me n but the flowers are paler and the leaves aren't hairy.

It looks like Valerianella locusta/lambs lettuce to me, the wild type not a cultivated version.

    Agree.

Here it is in full, hiding in between the tulip leaves and the pansies.
Marne la vallée, basically just outside Paris 🇫🇷, but definitely Scottish at heart.

Thanks for the in situ pic @Jacquimcmahon.
It does look like Valerianella locusta.

Hi Jacqui - I let a few plants of mâche go to seed last/this month and they look like forget-me-nots.  The little flowers are just closing up now.  Could be the "lettuce" thing!

Actually, in spite of the similarity of the "tiny flowers", those 2 plants belong to different families:
Valerianella locusta => Caprifoliaceae or honeysuckle family (!)
Forget-me-nots or Myosotis => Boraginaceae, including, amongst others, alkanet (Alkanna tinctoria); borage (Borago officinalis); comfrey (Symphytum spp.) etc.

    Merci @Papi Jo

Hoping these wee girls go to seed and give me lots of mâche this winter.
