Yes, paeonies are for patient gardeners! Feed it well this year, and keep it watered. Keep the eyes close to the surface, but don’t let the base of the plant stick out of the soil or it will not bulk up fast. I grow them because I love the foliage as much as the flowers. They will stay for decades in one place with no need of dividing. And when they reach a decent size there is nothing to rival them.
Oh I know my friend inherited some in her new home a few years ago. The previous owners said they were there for over 20 years. If I move I’m taking mine with me 😁
Clearly I must be very lucky to have such productivity from three Coral Charm only bought as potted plants two years ago...they grow so much faster than all my other peonies too.
