Absolutely NO reason at all, Granma. You're more than welcome (if it's my place to say that), but my earlier comments would, I feel, still have relevance for such a momentous decision.
One little point, you have a lot of experience but as much as you think you can pass it on, if you're not living with the granddaughter and the dog you're not fully in a position to see problems and correct. I think it's more important to consider their experience. It's personal experience and knowledge that's important. I think you need to live with a dog to understand it.
You probably would be a good match for a Doberman and could train your family well but the dog is there from day one not from a point at which you've got the new owners trained. I think your experience is not that relevant but their's is. What dogs have they owned? Dover isn't a starter dog even with access to good trainers of the owners.
Just my pov. I see a lot of people with inappropriate dogs and it's annoys me a little. My big bugbear is huskies in towns being walked like lapdog.
My experience of Doberman dogs is very little but I knew a lady who was onto her second. She was petite but managed it. She often got bitten because it got into scraps with other dogs. The others started things but the Doberman finished them. Usually with teeth in her thigh.

Gardening in Central Norfolk on improved gritty moraine over chalk ... free-draining.
