I suspect it suffered from thirst last summer - drought and heatwave - which will have stressed it and then a long cold winter and very dry spring with strong winds and cold nights will have added to the stress.

Give it a weekly watering for 15 to 20 litres of water poured slowly around the roots so it soaks in and doesn't just run off.  Between now and mid July add some liquid tomato feed which will encourage flower bud formation as well as healthy leaves.  If you gave another hot dry spell add an extra watering mid week but no extra fertiliser.

Wait till mid June to see where new growth appears and then cut out dead wood.  If you have new, long, whippy shoots cut them back to 4 leaf nodes in July.  Keep up the watering and then leave it be once autumn rains set in and don't forget the February prune when you take those 7 nodes back to 2 to encourage flowers.   Start the feeding again from mid March.
