Are these healthy canna lily rhizomes?

I ordered these canna lily rhizomes online (canna tropicanna)... they arrived soft and shrivelled... the company then sent me a replacement but they arrived looking like this... they aren’t soft but are they meant to be this shrivelled, brown and dry?

    They look totally dehydrated to me...can't imagine they will grow into anything. Their quality control is clearly lacking.

    No, they will never recover. Who did you order from? I received a couple of dodgy ones from Farmer Gracie and they returned my money immediately. The healthy one is fantastic and I would order from them again.

    That’s really frustrating. I couldn’t find the Tropicanna variety in my local garden centers. 

    I ordered from JParkers. They will probably refund me but they are out of stock in other places.

    farmer gracy are out of stock.

    Oh dear, poor cannas! Alas I must concur with other GWers that nothing good will come of those.

    Over the past 2 years I have been getting my cannas from Hart Cannas and all their plants were top quality. The ones I had last year flourished so much that I got an average of 3-4 new plants for each. The ones I received this year were perfect again. They still have quite a lot available so don't hesitate to order through them.

    As we're on canna, I had two which put on some good leaf growth last year but no flowers.  I dug them up and potted them up for the winter - when are they likely to start to sprout (as they look lifeless still to me) and should they be in a heated area?  I dont have a greenhouse just a coldframe but I suppose I could either bring them in or put them against a sunnyish wall.  Thank you

    Thank you! I might first check out the garden center first since they might be selling potted cannas now that the rhizomes are no longer stocked

    @adamadamant Do you have a heated conservatory? Or even a sunny window indoors? Cannas definitely need heat to get going.

    @adamadamant They should start growing as it gets warmer. As long as they didn't dry out overwintering they should be fine. Mine spent the winter in a flimsy plastic covered greenhouse and now in the cold frame and they're showing some growth with the warmer days.

    Don't worry too much about how slow they appear, as long as they get lots of sun and feed they will grow and flower promptly. The lack of flowers would be about not getting baked enough or lacking food, they're very hungry plants. Mine did really well because of the heatwave...had to divide them at the end of the season.
