Of course being mean about them will change anything at all...reminds we why I don't have a FB account.
"being mean" and showing up their bad service are NOT the same thing.

Ha ha, yes, first time I have bought anything from there. Won’t be going back! Shame as it has lots of unusual plants.
Then I think I would politely let them know that you’re disappointed in your first purchase from them.

How are they going to identify deficiencies in their staff training etc if knowledgeable gardeners like you don’t give them polite but constructive feedback?

Small businesses have been struggling through Covid ... there may be reasons why someone inexperienced dealt with you on that day ... but if I were them I’d want the chance to apologise and rectify my mistake.

If the nursery stocks interesting plants, not to return seems rather like ‘chucking the baby out with the bath water’.

Many plants do seem to be delayed this year regarding new growth.  If you have other tree ferns what are they like in comparison?  Did the nursery provide any type of guarantee with the plant?

My others are looking really good with fronds emerging. Very pleased with them after this winter. No guarantee mentioned. It’s always a relief seeing them growing each spring! They were honestly so rude, both of them that were working that day. They made you feel like you were an annoyance to them just being there. I’m keeping my fingers crossed it will be ok. It’s a family run business so wanted to do the right thing and support a local business but hay ho, you live and learn.

You may have caught them on a bad day, not that that is really any excuse.  All you can do is go back if you are sure there is no life in it and see how they react.
  • Still @Hostafan1 moaning online is really no substitute for direct communication. We are so hooked on performative complaining is becoming truly atrocious.
