I feel the need for a major lottery win. I suspect it might need one every year to maintain those magnificent gardens though. We have a mainly spring garden with rhodies and azaleas as the stars but that is probably because the deer don't eat them. A stream like Bodnant's would be delightful too.

@Athelas, my brother used to live near Devil's Bridge (which is a good 17 odd miles from Aberystwyth). There is a beautiful drive over the Elan Valley across to Rhayader, magnificent views, past old slate mines, isolated farmhouses, Red Kites, lots of sheep, huge reservoirs. It's not for the faint-hearted though, single track (with some passing places), some very tight, blind, corners, steep drops and occasionally, huge Forestry Commission timber lorries coming the opposite way at speed!
    Enjoy.

Thanks for the recommendations, @AnniD, @edhelka, @amancalledgeorge and @Lizzie27! Slowly putting the travel plans together.

Going to Sandringham tomorrow so hopefully will get some nice garden photos.

Thanks for posting the pics of Bodnant, @edhelka . It's a couple of years since I've been there. Maybe later this year I'll make it back.

What a beautiful "living" Laburnum tunnel, @edhelka.  Thanks so much for sharing your garden visit there.   I've seen some pretty amazing wisteria tunnels, in person and in videos, but nothing that compares with that glorious display of Laburnum.  I hope one day we are able to do a second driving tour of the UK and will definitely add it to our list of stops.  :)
