    It's  a fine beast . Last May

How do you manage  to kill them?
A bit of water  and a fair amount  of shade is all they need @gjautos🙂

I was a total beginner with ferns and just chopped them in half with a spade 2 years on some need splitting again. I can't get to grips with the 2 fork method and everything is dealt a blow with a sharp spade

That's a comfort @Wilderbeast. I must admit I'm feeling a bit precious about this one 😕 The ones in the ground are left to fend for themselves.

But I told you what to do in your last thread about this.
"Looks plenty big enough to re-pot! You could divide it and put it in 2 or 3 pots or in the ground I don't expect it will be easy getting it out of its pot though. To divide it you will probably have to cut through the top bit with a pruning saw, then pull the roots underneath apart. Looks as though it needs dividing, getting a bit congested."

Well done for getting it out of the pot, now just grit your teeth and go for it!

I took your advice @Busy-Lizzie and got it out. Then I lost my nerve.
I popped it back in the lot and I'm going to divide it tomorrow😖

What a beautiful fern @B3!  I have an old bread knife I use for dividing.  Well, it was the bread knife - quick spin in the dishwasher and that's fine right?  Hubby says no so now I have an old bread knife for sawing plants up and a lovely sharp new one for actual bread.

Looking at your previous thread ..the winter pic....you could hack it into at least  6 individual plants.
    Ferns are very forgiving.
