Should I repot this dryopteris yet?

I'd  rather not because it'll  be a big job.
I'm pretty sure it's  potbound  but showed no sign of distress  last year.
Can I  wait  until it does?

Looks plenty big enough to re-pot! You could divide it and put it in 2 or 3 pots or in the ground I don't expect it will be easy getting it out of its pot though. To divide it you will probably have to cut through the top bit with a pruning saw, then pull the roots underneath apart. Looks as though it needs dividing, getting a bit congested.

    Thanks @Busy-Lizzie 😕
Having just about won a tug of war with a bay tree, I'm not looking forward to the battle.

Think how satisfying it will be when it's done!  :D

A beautiful fern in an equally beautiful pot! Good luck with the "dividing" battle, @B3.
