I only pot on when I have to, Toms, I have a green house full of stuff I had to pot on,2 conservatory windows kitchen window sill, the table is 6 by 4 feet and full
Yes @janieb straight from tray to the border as I didn’t have and couldn’t get any compost to pot on. They were a bit smaller than usual but soon romped away once in the garden and final size and flowering was as good as previous years. I’ve also done Cosmos, sunflowers and Zinnia previously straight from homemade paper pots into the border. Slightly deeper pots, maybe 10cm or so but only small diameter maybe 3cm one seed per pot and they’ve gone straight into the border and always been fine.
I don’t set stuff off very early, usually last week March to early April as it’s all done in an unheated greenhouse. So they are probably only in the tray/paper pots until end of May. If starting them much earlier they probably would need moving on first.
