Identifying a dead shrub

I lost a shrub last year and would love another one. It was low and a bit woody, had feathery leaves and very small pink flowers in the spring and when pinched the leaves smelt of nutmeg,
can anyone recognise this?

    Will take a guess at a flowering current - Ribes sanguineum 
    But on re-reading yoyr post i wouldnt describe the leaves as feathery.
    Was it evergreen or deciduous?

    I did think of spirea japonica, but l've never smelt the leaves!

    Thought of tamarisk @lyn but as it's a tree the 'low' description  made me discount it, but then a ribes isn't a low shrub either.
    Perhaps the OP will  reply or it might turn out to be a perennial like dicentra.

    Take a look at Diosma Ericoides. They are quite tender and need some winter protection if grown in cold areas in the UK.

    Here is a photo in the plants hey day. A blurry close up of the leaves. I bought this in Cornwall, live on the Isle of Wight so very mild climate

    It looks very like the shrub Borderline suggested.
