Sorry folks am new to the forum so apologies for the sideways photo

  • Was thinking along these lines with added flower. Perhaps a tall plant in the middle to add more height.

    Like the look in the photo, although tree ferns aren't practical and are expensive. 
    Lots of hosta in there and when they flower some can be quite tall.
    Brunnera is a good plant.
    The grass might be Hakonechloa.
    Remember  plants do spread and your beds aren't large but some can be divided.
    https://www.plantsforshade.co.uk/ will give you a start but sadly they seem to have very little in stock at the moment

    you might catch your washing on anything too tall.
