Oh poor you @Pat E ((big hugs)) how on earth did you do that?  Mind you, I'm a fine one to ask aren't I ... I'm always in the wars .... put your feet up and take it easy, we'll help your hubby to keep you supplied with tea and cake ... I might be making some cherry and chocolate flapjacks in a bit ... shall I save you a few?  ☕ 🍰

And poor you @punkdoc ... being the child of an elderly 'faller' is so hard ... I can remember getting 'that phone call' from a First Responder one morning and being asked to get to A&E in order to be there to meet the ambulance, but I was due at an important Child Protection Conference that morning ... fortunately another family member was able to get there but not in time to meet the ambulance and Ma had been confused and confuddled, unable to explain what had happened.  It was then that she finally agreed to go and live in the care home with Pa rather than stay at home and just do daily visits.

I've had a quick shufty around the garden ... although there's granular snow on the ground and in the pots (and balancing on the large rhubarb leaves, looking rather odd) I don't think there's any damage been done.  The lowest overnight temp on the garden thermometer was 0.07C, and the pond and hedgehog water-bowl are not frozen.  I really didn't want to wrap the pear blossom in fleece as the wind was so strong and gusty, if it pulled the fleece about I could imagine all the blossom buds being ripped off, so I crossed my fingers and left it uncovered.  The buds aren't open so I think we're ok.  :)

The seeds I sowed on 31st March began to pop up on Sunday (4/4) ... three lots of tomatoes (San Marzano, Red Cherry and Sungold ... although only four Sungolds have appeared so far ... do I need more than four?  Of course not)  and one of the Ukuru squashes ... now 2 of the courgettes are up too (but both in the same pot of course) and another of the squashes ... no sign of the Honey Bear squashes or the Hungarian Black chillies so far.  I'll sow the runner beans this week ...

@Pat E that is nasty, did you miss your footing or trip over something? Do you have a nurse that calls to keep an eye on it? Lots of TLC for you needed.
Hope all is Ok with your mum @punkdoc - such a worry for you.
Cold and rainy here at the moment, the garden is not inviting at the moment, being more of a fair weather gardener as I have got older!

It was my own fault for not watching where I was stepping. I was collecting some strawberries from the garden for breakfast.  🙄
I staggered in to Hubby who was still in bed and I said “I’ve had a fall”.  Never seen him move so quickly. Can’t believe how much blood there was.  I feel that I need a transfusion 😁  The Dr in Cas was lovely, but he insisted on a head and neck scan before he did the stitching. He is from the Shetland Islands.

Anyway, a quiet time for me the next few days. No wandering around the garden.

Ouch! @Pat E hope that heals quickly, you need to take it easy.  Sorry to hear of another worry for you @punkdoc.
Hope everyone has a good day, dry bright but very cold wind here. The birds water baths were dry this morning,  this wind is just taking all moisture away.  The soil is damp underneath but getting a dry hard crust on top, at the plots.  So now we need rain.  Can't win.

Ouch @Pat E, my first thought when I saw that photo was "stitches". I hope it heals well. He sounds a good doctor.

I hope your hospital visit goes well @Hostafan1.

It isn't as cold as the forecast said, no frost, sun is shining.

I had a busy day yesterday, cleaned the sitting room, mowed the grass, painted 3/4 of the utility room ceiling and marked out my next two flower beds.

The utility room is a bit complicated, washing machine, tumble dryer, big fridge freezer and freezer are all in there and there is the start of a shower at one end, a bigger room than the study. It's where I will keep all my sewing and painting (pictures, not walls!) things which are homeless and in the loft at the moment.

The flower bed outside the dining room will be herbaceous perennials. The other bed is to take the roses I ordered online, special offer, but I hadn't thought where to plant them. They are still quite small plants so are parked in the vegetable garden until winter. There are 3 light pink ground cover roses and 3 dark pink ones and a Darcey Bussell. I've marked out a round bed in the lawn for them, which I will be digging then mulching in spare moments when I've done the painting. I think I will plant lavender with them.

Ouch @Pat E that looks nasty.  Take care of yourself 🤕.

Had a lazy day yesterday, but will spring back into action today with more mulching planned.  Magnolia flowers are destroyed- will try and avert my gaze, but the tree is 40foot tall, so a bit difficult to miss 🥲

Sorry to hear about your fall @PatE, hope you get better soon and the headache eases, have a stay in bed or on the sofa I think for the rest of the day at least.
Also sorry to hear your mum's had another fall @Punkdoc.
Hope the hospital appointment (about your hand?) goes well @Hostafan1, shouldn't think there'll be much snow at Exeter to make driving difficult.
Your projects are going well BL and DD.
Our magnolia is also looking very sorry and the fleece on the wisteria is now in tatters because it's quite windy out there now. The hyacinths are laid out on the lawn and the tulips are still bent over, hopefully the cloches I put over the more vulnerable perennials have protected them. I shan't be doing much outside today either.
