  • 😅 I had the same problem a couple of years ago with  a new (well manured) flowerbed @ddo101 They were better the following year. 

    I have just pricked mine out and the roots were enormous, had to have a quick rethink on the size of the pots to use. I'd also forgotten how long it takes and how fiddly a job it is, so I'm glad you've managed to sow individually @Dirty Harry

    Worth all the effort though, lovely fillers for gaps and very cheerful.

    @ddo101 - nitrogen promotes foliage.  You need a fertiliser with potash such as those balanced for roses, tomatoes or other flowering plants.

  • Thanks for the advice @Lyn, do I literally just snip off the flower head or any stem too? I get nervous that this is my only chance of flowers and I'll lose all if I cut them off!
