I use ginger biscuits for the base of a no-cook lemon cheesecake and used to like digestive biscuits with cheese.Β Can't find either here and my one attempt at making digestives a few years ago was not good but that's OK as I now prefer bread with cheese.
I make a very good chocolate chip biscuit and oatmeal based biscuits and flapjacks but only for an event such as patchwork or a garden group meeting.Β Β
Thanks for the link, @Obelixx.Β I try not to bake too often because cakes & biscuits are my weakness... I can resist shop ones but not home made, so I try only to bake for special occasions, and for other people.Β Not had enough occasions (or visitors) for quite a while...
Since 2019 I've lived in east Clare, in the west of Ireland.
@Liriodendron other than the Creole Xmas cake I haven't baked a cake or a biscuit since October - the last patch group meeting.Β I hope I haven't forgotten how.Β Β
There was a chap at dance club in Belgium who loved fig rolls and I'd get him a packet when I went to the British supermarket for Irish black pudding and golden syrup and mint jelly.Β It hasn't had any deliveries since December and has had to close.
That's a shame, @obelixx.Β There aren't many recipes I make which need golden syrup, fortunately - because it's hard to get here too - and honey or date syrup often work instead...

Speaking of price rises I just found out my council tax amount for the year and it's the highest in Wales at over Β£450 above average. I also found out though that my neighbours are in a lower band and an identical house to mine that's just up the road is in a lower band too. I tried to appeal my rating but the website takes you around in circles and basically tells you that you can only appeal under very strict circumstances. I've managed to start an appeal going I think but I'm not holding out much hope of an easy rebate. They'll probably just increase my neighbours' bills instead and I'll end up feeling guilty.
If you can keep your head, while those around you are losing theirs, you may not have grasped the seriousness of the situation.

Not sure you can say "free" @wild edges given how much it's cost everyone in terms of delays and shortages and likely price rises.
