Thank you @AdRock - I read that gentian sage is very tender and to treat like dahlias. How have you found it to be in your garden? I don't have any space to take it into protection in winter.
Yes, I grow mine in pots and then overwinter in the greenhouse
On the alpine looking thing? It's not mine, it's in a neighbour's front garden, but I could go back and have a gentle rootle and about and see if it's a label. It's an alpine-looking shallow trough affair.
You might be ok if you’re in London to fleece them and your dahlias are fine. I know they rot out if the ground where we are, the drainage isn’t good and we got to -8 one night so that’s why I keep in pots and keep them warm!
