If you say that you are willing to split into batches of say 5 plants you may be more successful in getting rid of them :)
Looking forward to seeing the photos of the original plants that you saw.

@ditsy Be warned that most gumtrees will grow into huge trees. Is that what you want for your small hedge? ;)

There’s a website called Nextdoor.com which is split into small local areas, and it’s for local communication (the police use it here to spread the word about dodgy cold callers and scams etc)
... and lots of people use it for recommendations (tradesmen etc) lost pets and keys, found spectacles, swapping plants and that sort of thing and you can offer things for sale.  I find it very useful. People join under their own name so there’s no trolling or unpleasantness but you can, oc course, keep your address hidden.
That may be a useful way of finding new homes for your laurels. 😊

  • Gosh such a shame you are in London or I would of snapped them up! I am sure someone else will love to rehome them.

Thanks. Yes I am looking forward to someone telling me what they are. Probably something really simple but I have ploughed through google hedges and haven't found them.
Might be able to get a pic today, if not it will be in the next few days.

New build estates tend to use cherry laurel Otto Luyken which stays at about 4ft or so. Or Viburnum tinus or lonicera nitida which on our estate looks a mess as no-one cuts it.
We also have eleagnus and box.

That type of cherry laurel might fit the bill (re maximum adult height), but on the RHS site it says: Ultimate height 0.5-1 metres / Ultimate spread 1-1.5 metres
A spread of 1-1.5 metres would probably be too much for the small space available in the OP's front garden.

Sorry, @K67 I'm not getting the meaning of your joke. :|
