  • Down here in Cornwall people put surplus plants, cut flowers, eggs, fruit, horse poo etc.  etc. outside their gates with an honesty box. I have no idea how honest people are. Some ask for the money to be dropped through their letter box.

I regularly drive past a community garden. Anyone can drop off surplus seeds, seedlings or produce. I have seen volunteers working on the plot, some I suspect are gardeners who no longer have their own garden. There is a sign up asking people to help themselves to any crops they fancy. The garden is always immaculate and there is an honsty box in the shed should you wish to make a donation of money. I keep meaning to stop and investigate, Sunday morning seems to be a time when there are people working on the plot but I am usually in transit to a local dog friendly beach to walk my dog when I pass the garden. Must make more effort!
