D0rdogne_Damsel  Maybe you could organise fishing holidays to that big etang to the north of you?  Just envious.
  •    Could be arranged @nick615 , perhaps in exchange for hard labour in the garden or a bundle of great British plants. ;)

That's a massive project @D0rdogne_Damsel   I think you are very brave taking it on.  I wish you luck and plenty of stamina.  I am sure it will be very beautiful.  Yes, keep the update photos coming in.
A good hoeing is worth two waterings.

  • I never go for the easy option @tuikowhai34, my biggest downfall. 😏

Thanks DD but, much as I love France, my 78th birthday in a couple of weeks means I probably shan't see it again.  I just get pangs when the Strawbridges mention places I used to go to with coaches.
  • 78! You're a mere baby. 🙂

Keep following the forum, lots of expats here to keep you updated. 😘

  • My little lupins have gone into the ground in my new bed today (heavily protected by slug pellets). I do hope they end up looking as good as they did in the picture.

  • Watching with interest. I love lupins, but have lived for years in a place with soil conditions they hate, and I can’t bear to see them struggle so haven’t grown them for ages. Such an exciting project!
  • I must say @Cambridgerose12, I have managed to kill quite a few, slugs actually, I am guarding these ones with my life, same with the dahlias. @WonkyWomble does a midnight slug patrol with a torch, I think I'll be joining her.  :open_mouth:

Try a foot wide circle of grit DD around each plant as a further deterrent or even cloche them if you have any until they've grown a bit.
