Quite.. why continually watch something you don't like?
Or, why continually watch and complain about something you don’t like? 😅

I enjoyed the show as always.  Relaxing and encouraging :). The Brazilian bit was interesting.

Very simple answer to that.  It's not possible to know if you will like something until you have watched it.  Unfortunately, by that point you have wasted time you are never going to be able to get back.

Plus, gardeners live in hope.  Given the numbers of trained gardeners around who will have been sat twiddling their thumbs whilst on furlough thru Covid, not to mention the resources of staff and expert gardeners in the RHS/NT/Scottish NT/English Heritage/Kew I wouldn't have thought it beyond the bounds of imagination or possibility to commission some film from some of those.

I look forward to GW every week.  There are bits I love and bits I don't and that's what FF is for.

Exactly, and to be fair, until you've watched it , you don't know if you're going to love it or not. That's why I record it. there are only so many times I can watch MD sowing seeds or plant veg before I tire of it.

I've just watched it again but try as I might, the sound quality on the dinosaur garden film is poor and I can't make out half of what she's saying and I do not have a hearing problem.    That Scottish chap is lovely and I enjoyed his performances on Strictly but I don't see how his enjoyment of a public park informs our gardening activities or knowledge.

The Scottish lass who has transplanted herself to Orgon was good - but I don't buy milk or anything else in that kind of bottle..........   Having watched the daff mania film I think I like mine best "au naturel" and not fancy.

I think they should watch Beechgrove for pointers, it was amazing to see how much work needed doing, and that they showed it all, warts and all.

My recording of Thursday's Beechgrove failed cos a certain person had set up some golf and it clashed.  Will have to wait for Sunday's showing on Beeb 2.   Really pleased to have it back.   Good practical stuff.

My issue, Posy, is the opportunity cost of these segments. With only an hour a week of time, editorial decisions have to be made about what to include and what to exclude. I liked last Friday’s episode quite a lot but still felt the editors could have made better choices. The segment on JJ ? I felt was too long and I had no interest in him playing with his daughter by the tree; likewise those plastic dinosaurs did nothing for me (as is often the case with viewers’ videos) but I respect the fact that the programme makers are trying to cater to a broad church and not just an interest group with set ways.

It must be so hard during lock down to commission new pieces so I understand the need to repeat things but, again, I question the decision making. I thought last week’s inclusion of the house boat was a definite error.

Gardeners’ World is one of the very few programmes I try not to miss. I do not question the pure gardening slots given by the regulars even if I do not grow what they are describing or I already know the techniques they are demonstrating. My issue is with the rest of the show. But maybe that it often fails to capture my interest says more about my rigid thinking than the editors who chose to offer it to the public.
