When weeding a tulip patch, do it from the side, not from above. Or wear some kind of eye protection. The stems can be like sticks and one of those in your eye can end with you in a&e.
I thought this might be a useful thread for beginner and adventurous gardeners . We'll see. My first suggestion is the obvious: Don't plant leylandii My others are personal prejudices so I won't mention them - yet. Has anyone else got anything to add?
As a conifer fan, I must add: if you have enough space and can plant just one leylandii as a specimen, do it! the result is stunning! A truly majestic giant! ☺️ (Unpruned and left to reign alone!😉)
If you want to remain on good terms with your next-door-neighbour, don't plant ivy on your fence! Unless you plan to prune it every year for the next 100 years!
I'm truly appalled by the sexist rantings against the male of the species in this topic. Or I would be were it not for a friend who is not noted for his DIY expertise. We were on the phone to his wife one evening when she said "Oh God. I have to go. Ken just walked past with the drill in his hands". She had good reason to panic as he had previously broken wall tiles when trying to drill them. Worse was the fact that there was no need to drill the tiles in the first place as the item in question could be fitted to the wall immediately above the tile splashback.
