I’d like to add...don’t leave Allium seed heads until they fall on the ground and self seed everywhere.
Same goes for Aquilegias. Bloody nightmare.
I've had aquilegias seed into the middle of clumps of Hostas and only notice them in the second year (once they've sent down a stubborn tap root )
😬 You can always rely on an aquilegia to sprout up where it's not wanted.

Agree B3.  It's becoming a real nuisance in my garden.  Love Ceanothus though.

I'd love all your aquilegias and alliums. Send them over. :D

My aquilegias didn't get chance to self-seed last year. Somebody, probably the goldfinches, nicked all the seed and left the seed cases on the ground!

Be careful what you wish for @Fire. As regards spreading , think oxalis only smelly

  • Moved into new house two years ago. Weeds. Strawberry plants everywhere and next doors Ash tree deposited around 400 seeds one week in April, never mind all the other neighbour's and other weeks. They are like weeds, pull them straight away.

Thanks for this post. I have often wondered what the 'wild geum' in my garden was. It does take some stopping. Nearly there.......

You may get nearly but never there.
Be vigilant. They even sidle up to cultivars. Cultivars rarely self seed... If you want more , divide or buy.

When sowing old seed, don’t assume you’ll probably get 50% germination 🤦🏻‍♀️ My half tray of antirrhinum is a sea of seedlings🙄
